Story Of The Band

The Story of the band all started in a little-known rural mountain town in the blue ridge mountains in North Carolina, called “Tuscon City.” Growing up in this pristine little mountain town, brother and sister Wesley and Tina Mcfarrihan, grew up with humble beginnings in their family’s old mountain cabin nestled deep within the mountain forest.

Wesley and Tina’s Mountain Cabin

Despite living within the depths of nature, both siblings discovered that they had a love for music at an early age. Tina developed a knack for the drums, by banging on pots and pans from the kitchen, learning to keep the beat of the songs. She was a huge fan of some of the most world-renowned jazz percussionists of all time such as Buddy Rich, Steve Gadd, and Cindy Blackman Santana. she grew in accuracy and speed and was eventually able to master what those drummers could do on a stage.

Wesley Meanwhile, drew inspiration from some of the great country/western legends such as Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash, and developed his own knack for capturing a wide range of emotions from his voice, just like those legends.

After a while, the family noticed their talent and encouraged the siblings to start a band together, with Wesley singing, and Tina Playing the drums.

By the time the two siblings were in their tweens, Tuscon City was already seeing rapid growth, including a brand-new restaurant and music club district downtown called “Prospector’s Row.” The siblings began taking their act before the audiences of those places, gaining a local following among the town residents, and the new tourists that were coming into town.

However, the siblings knew that their act needed some extra flair, especially with a more diverse audience. To that end, they started to look for other musicians to join their band, and before long, they found a guitar player in search of his big break named Chino Martinez.

Chino was born near Mexico City, Mexico, but later Immigrated with his family to Tuscon City when he was nine years old. Growing up, He was a huge Carlos Santana fan and became obsessed with copying Santana’s style and artistic looks. Eventually, just like Santana, He mastered the electric guitar and started to perform in Prospector’s Row as a Carlos Santana tribute act.

Eventually, he came across the McFarrihan siblings when they were preforming in one of the music clubs in town, and with both sides sensing that each one needed the other, decided to join forces to create a new band with a mixture of both the country influences and the Santana Latin flair to create something unique. (Although it did require that Chino would stop pretending to play Carlos and instead be himself).

Over time, the new band, now called “Rennaissance”, continued to develop their musical style, refining their genre-bending musical style to reach as much commercial appeal as possible, however, the band knew that they were still missing one final component in order to take their act over the edge. On top of this, it came to light that there was already a famous band called Rennaissance, and not wanting to face a lawsuit, the band knew it had to come up with another name that suits them even better.

Both problems were soon resolved when a new restaurant/venue opened in Tuscon City called “Fluffy Joe’s Rib Rack Shack BBQ”, which was quickly gaining as much of a loyal following as the band.

It was founded by Joeseph “Fluffy Joe” Wellsburough, who had moved to the area from the swamplands of the Louisiana Bayou alongside his daughter Montanna to take advantage of the increasing amount of tourism coming to Tuscon City so they could have a more financially stable future.

Montanna was also an avid fan of Blues/Soul music from the 1940’s-60’s especially from artists including Howlin’ Wolf, Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, among others, and had dreams of becoming a professional singer herself.

It wasn’t before long that the band decided to play a show at the venue, and after the show, the three current members of the band met up with Montanna and her father. After each side introduced themselves to each other, They talked about the band’s performance that night, and both sides agreed that their sound was missing that extra spice to make it stand out. When Wesley revealed that he was working on writing some songs that he wanted to test out, Montanna offered to practice with the trio with her on bass and contributing on some of the vocals on the songs.

The resulting session turned out to be a major success, and it immediately led to the band offering Montanna to join them on the spot. She agreed, and the newly formed quartet next tried to come up with a brand-new name for the band, eventually settling on “Complicated Music Machine” after Chino looked around the dining room of the restaurant and mentioning to the others that it reminded Him of a 19th century steam engine. (The steam engine being the “Complicated Machine”). “Fluffy Joe also agreed to be the band’s new manager, as he had some contacts within the live music scene that He thought could provide the help the band needed to grow tighter as a unit, and in popularity.

In no time, the band began generating buzz from within the indie music scene, and that buzz led them to sign with a record label, and a renowned publisher to release their original music worldwide. Now, the band hopes that their music will inspire millions of people from all around the world. Rock on, CMM!
